JOB SUMMARY

The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily procurement, shipping, receiving, warehouse, and inventory control activities to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective movement of instruments, materials, and related products. This role supervises logistics staff, supports internal departments with on-time deliveries, and ensures warehouse operations are organized, compliant, and efficient. The Logistics Supervisor works closely with Inside Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, and external freight partners to maintain high service levels and operational excellence.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Supervise and coordinate daily procurement, shipping, receiving, warehousing, inventory activities and allocation of the material to ensure on-time shipments and deliveries to customers.
  • Oversee packaging and shipment of instruments, materials, and other goods in accordance with internal requirements, customer expectations, and applicable transportation regulations.
  • Lead freight coordination activities, including obtaining freight quotations, selecting carriers, placing freight orders, arranging transportation, and tracking shipments in close cooperation with shipping service providers.
  • Oversee preparation and accuracy of export documentation and ensure compliance with import/export regulations, customs requirements, and company procedures.
  • Ensure incoming materials are inspected for damage, shortages, and missing accessories, and coordinate follow-up with internal teams and carriers as needed.
  • Ensure accurate and timely transaction processing in SAP or other ERP systems, including booking materials into stock, maintaining inventory records, and managing shipping documentation.
  • Oversee stock organization and warehouse layout to ensure a clean, safe, orderly, and efficient warehouse environment.
  • Monitor due deliveries and shipping schedules; ensure required shipping documents are created accurately and on time from SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Plan, assign, and review work of logistics staff to ensure productivity, accuracy, and adherence to procedures and deadlines.
  • Train, coach, and support team members in shipping, receiving, inventory, ERP transactions, documentation, and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and supervise inventory control practices to maintain inventory accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to balance priorities, resolve delivery or logistics issues, and continuously improve logistics processes and service levels.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and support continuous improvement initiatives related to logistics, warehouse operations, and customer service.
  • Complete other assignments and special projects as requested.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervises shipping, receiving, and warehouse personnel.
  • Assigns and prioritizes daily work activities.
  • Monitors performance, provides coaching and training, and supports employee development.
  • Ensures adherence to company policies, safety requirements, and standard operating procedures.
  • Supports hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and performance management activities as applicable.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse or logistics operations.
  • 3+ years of supervisory, team lead, or coordinator experience in a logistics or warehouse environment.
  • Practical experience with freight coordination, and inventory control.

Desired

  • Experience with SAP or another ERP system.
  • Apprenticeship, vocational training, or formal education in logistics, warehouse operations, supply chain, or a related field.
  • Experience in an international business environment.
  • Experience in a technical product, manufacturing, or industrial equipment environment.

 

KNOWLEDGE

  • MS Office products, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • German and English
  • Shipping, receiving, warehousing, import/export processes, and customs documentation.
  • Inventory management and cycle counting practices.
  • Carrier management, freight quotations, and shipment tracking.
  • Logistics compliance and documentation requirements.
