Calibration Technician II at DICKEY-john
The Calibration Technician II plays an important role in the operations of the Calibration department by controlling the verification and calibration of inspection, measurement, and test equipment (IM&TE). This person will use knowledge, skills, experience, manufacturer’s information, ISO 9001, ISO 17025, and calibration instructions to maintain the accuracy and repeatability of all IM&TE within the DICKEY-john calibration system and schedule.
The Calibration Technician II will work with other calibration technicians, IM&TE users, manufacturing, test engineering, and outside organizations to maintain and repair IM&TE quickly and efficiently while maintaining records of all work done. This person will make recommendations and implement actions to improve the processes within the calibration department, identify critical pieces of IM&TE, and control the costs of repairs and outside services.
Work is done within a controlled and certified Quality Management System using defined standards, documented procedures, self-direction, and initiative.
What Will You Do?
- Perform verifications and calibrations of electronic, electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, acoustic, electromechanical, and computerized inspection, measurement, and test equipment (IM&TE) per test instructions and procedures.
- Generate and maintain records of all verification and calibration activities within a calibration database.
- Evaluate and troubleshoot non-operational and nonconforming instruments. Coordinate with manufacturer or third-party servicer to determine pricing and lead-time, and seek approval.
- Maintain calibration database for all internal IM&TE and monitor due dates, perform calibrations, and generate calibration records (certificates and reports).
- Coordinate service with external calibration vendors for instruments that cannot be calibrated internally.
- Evaluate calibration vendors based on qualification and expertise and monitor their performance.
- Recommend calibration interval for all IM&TE based on manufacturer’s recommendations and experience, and adjust the interval as directed based on past performance data and usage.
- Work with engineers, supervisors, and other technical workers to assist with equipment installation, maintenance, and repair techniques.
- Disassemble and reassemble instruments and equipment, using assorted tools, and inspects instruments and equipment for defects.
- Document calibration process, and update instructions when needed.
- In cooperation with the Engineering Manager or Calibration Technician 3, propose a budget for calibration activities, and monitor spending throughout the year.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience
Required
- At least two years of experience as a Calibration Technician I, or relevant experience with calibration, metrology and troubleshooting/repair of electronic/electromechanical systems, or two years of experience as a calibration technician in a manufacturing environment with a formal quality management system or ISO 17025 accreditation.
- At least one year of experience calibrating inspection, measurement, and test equipment (IM&TE).
- At least two years of experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Desired
- At least one year of experience using commercial gauge management software.
- At least one year of experience using SAP or similar ERP systems for quality/inventory functions.
- ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) or other relevant certification.
- Experience supporting or managing calibration activities across multiple departments or sites.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Work is typically performed in a standard office setting working at a desk or table on a level surface. Air quality and noise levels are within normal limits. Eye protection is usually not required. Under normal conditions, exposure to excessive noise, dust, humidity, and fumes is rare. Individual may be required to work more hours than normally expected during a regular workweek depending on workload and deadline requirements.
Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This position occasionally requires long hours and weekend work.
Travel
No travel is expected for this position.

Pay and Benefits: Competitive market salary from $50,000 - $58,000 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities may be available and awarded at the discretion of the Company. Benefits include:
