Production Planner II

Under general supervision the Production Planner will use their knowledge of SAP, lead times and manufacturing capacity, to create and release production plans, analyze customer order information and communicate order and delivery information to project managers, customer service and management. Also responsible for coordinating production plans and materials to achieve customer service expectations.  Planners will be core members of the manufacturing value streams and will be required to understand the material flow of the products they are scheduling as well as the dynamics of the bill of material structures.


This position is considered a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices in regards to production control.  They will be required to work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of multiple factors.

  1. Review SAP plan output based on input from the master schedule, forecasts and sales orders; communicate issues to forecasting, order management and manufacturing.
  2. Write and review operational procedures as they pertain to production control.
  3. Evaluate, recommend and drive changes in methods and procedures in assigned area of responsibility.
  4. Interact regularly with senior level internal and external customers.
  5. Release and maintain individual production jobs based on the MRP plan, capacity constraints and available material.
  6. Understand all material replenishment methodologies, plan and change the materials to utilize the most effective and efficient method.  (i.e. backflush, push, kanban etc.)
  7. Work with other TSI operations staff and suppliers to resolve material shortages, backlogs, and other potential schedule interruptions.
  8. Serve as a resource for helping others understand SAP functionality.
  9. Work with purchasing department to ensure adequate and proper flow of materials, including expediting parts.
  10. Participate in cross functional continual process improvement teams as assigned; such as Plan For Every Part and Product Specific Locators.
  11. May assist with special corporate projects as they apply to operations and planning.
  12. Determine lead times and plan customer order satisfaction dates when Available To Promise date is determined to be unacceptable.
  13. Maintain accurate inventory levels to meet turn goals.
  14. Participate closely with Engineering, Sales and Marketing, Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering during new product development and launch.
  15. Validate, approve and implement Engineering Change Orders as they apply to the inventory and planning processes
  16. Maintain and verify Material Master and MRP settings.
  17. Follow all safety guidelines and report unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  18. Perform other tasks and special projects as requested.

Minimum High School Graduate; or equivalent is required. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or related, and/or APICs CPIM is desired,


Minimum of 3 years of experience working with production and inventory control systems; such as SAP is required. Prior planning experience using SAP is desired.



  • Advanced understanding of material management and supply chain
  • Proven ability to resolve a wide range of issues in creative and practical ways



Must be able to:

  • Use standard office equipment such as copier, fax, telephone, postage, etc.
  • Operate computer and other electronic equipment



Work is typically performed in a standard office setting working at a desk or table on a level surface. Air quality and noise levels are within normal limits. Eye protection is usually not required.  Under normal conditions, exposure to excessive noise, dust, humidity, and fumes is rare. An employee may be required to work more hours than normally expected during a regular workweek depending on workload and deadline requirements.



This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.



No travel is expected for this position.
