Associate Trade Compliance Specialist at TSI
The Associate Trade Compliance Specialist provides daily operational execution in accordance to the company's trade compliance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with U.S. and Foreign Government import and export regulations.
What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with TSI, you will be responsible for:
Order Analysis – Asia Pacific
- Analyze all orders for China, Macau and Hong Kong to ensure compliance with all U.S. Export Control Laws.
Shipping Documentation and Incoming Requests
- Prepares export shipping documents for shipments in compliance with various Federal and State agency export regulations. These documents include shipping invoices, Shipper’s Export Declarations/AES government filings and other certifications.
- Reviews and approves shipping documentation and verifies Schedule B Number on non-standard shipments.
- Reviews all products for appropriate classification under the Schedule B Number and/or Harmonized Tariff System U.S. (HTSUS). Maintains these classifications on SAP.
- Reviews and manages incoming requests into the Trade Compliance Group.
Onsite Technology Clearance Support
- Screens foreign national visitors through Technology Clearance Request process. Informs receptionist of screening results and dates of foreign national visits.
Other Support Actions
Serves as a backup for many of the following tasks to support the team:
- Completes order entry and special projects as required.
- Collaborate with various TSI Departments & Foreign Offices, customers and suppliers on import and export regulations.
- Monitors the AES Portal for any incoming requests by U.S. Customs.
- Reviews and prepares entry documentation for all entries into the U.S.
- Serves as back-up contact with Customs Brokers.
- Maintains recordkeeping in accordance with government export regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What Do You Need?
Required
- Associate’s Degree in Business or related discipline
- 0-2 years of experience in trade compliance
Desired
- The ideal candidate should demonstrate exceptional thoroughness, leaving no detail unchecked. Attention to detail is essential to ensure all work is completed accurately, thoroughly, and in accordance with established guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- MS Office Suite
- ERP-based global trade management system (i.e. SAP-GTS) preferred
- Import/export documentation and compliance procedures/regulations (letter of credit, export license, carnets, etc.)

Pay & Benefits: Competitive market salary from $58,000 - $68,000 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities may be available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
