Buyer I at TSI

Under general supervision, the Buyer is responsible for purchasing services, materials or equipment. This entry level role focuses on obtaining materials, equipment, services or supplies at the most cost-effective price while also meeting the quality, quantity and availability standards. The Buyer I actively researches and develops new sources of supply and/or recommends possible substitute materials. When assigned categories being managed by a Category Manager, this position will function as a supporting role with respect to sourcing and negotiation tasks.

 

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with TSI, you will be responsible for:

  • Oversee purchasing and inventory planning for assigned commodities, ensuring inventory levels and turns align with established goals
  • Maintain SAP Material Master data integrity for inventory planning and purchasing fields
  • In cooperation with Category Managers, negotiate contracts with supplier. Identify favorable lead-time, pricing, and delivery schedule with suppliers to ensure optimal procurement conditions
  • Process Return Material Authorizations (RMA’s) to suppliers and partner with distribution/shipping departments to return defective parts back to supplier
  • Responsible for the effective implementation of ECO’s of items assigned
  • Co-responsibility for satisfactory supplier metrics with Category Manager of assigned commodities
  • Work with other operations groups and suppliers to resolve material shortages, backlogs, and other potential schedule interruptions
  • Work with planning and production teams to understand business need when confirmed dates are beyond standard lead time
  • Work with other operations groups to identify new processes to reduce inventory and waste
  • Analyze purchased parts to determine optimal purchasing strategy. i.e. discreet PO, blanket PO, Kanban, Contract, VMI, Stocking Agreement etc.
  • Address and resolve invoice and delivery discrepancies in collaboration with receiving and accounting departments

 

What Do You Need? 

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in either Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or similar degree 
  • Minimum of 0-3 years of experience in Supply Chain Management, i.e. purchasing and or planning

 

Desired

  • Experience with ERP computer systems; such as Oracle or SAP 
  • APICS certification

 

Knowledge

  • Routinely reads, writes and makes mathematical calculations
  • Regularly required to conduct research, analyze data and create methodologies/visualize conclusions to resolve problems, make effective decisions and manage resources
  • Basic computer programs including Microsoft Office products and SAP

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $63,000 - $69,000 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities may be available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
