Buyer II at TSI

Under minimal supervision, the Buyer II is responsible for procuring materials and equipment that support business operations and production requirements. This role manages more complex commodities and higher-value purchases than entry-level Buyer roles, balancing cost, quality, delivery, and inventory objectives. The Buyer II develops and maintains supplier relationships, identifies new sourcing opportunities, negotiates favorable terms, and recommends alternative materials or suppliers to support operational and business goals.

 

What Will You do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with TSI, you will be responsible for:

  • Effectively manages expenditures to reduce the total cost of ownership of material acquisitions.
  • Maintains SAP Material Master data integrity for inventory planning and purchasing fields.
  • Works effectively in all inventory, planning, and purchasing modules in SAP.
  • Negotiates contracts with suppliers.
  • Manages purchasing and inventory planning activities for assigned commodities.
  • Maintains inventory in accordance with established inventory levels and turnover goals.
  • Process defective items for assigned commodities.
  • Implements engineering change orders (ECOs) for assigned commodities effectively and efficiently.
  • Maintains satisfactory supplier performance metrics.
  • Interprets contracts and collaborates with the Supply Chain Manager to address related legal issues.
  • Allocates time between purchasing and inventory responsibilities based on assigned commodities, recognizing that relative priorities may vary.
  • Creates and implements new processes to reduce inventory and waste.
  • Completes other assignments and special projects as requested.

 

What Do You Need?

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Economics, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 1 - 2 years of experience with Tier I ERP software experience (e.g., SAP, Oracle or JD Edwards).

 

Desired

  • ISM or APICS Certification.

 

Knowledge

  • Routinely reads, writes and performs mathematical calculations.
  • Regularly conducts research, analyze data, and develops methodologies or visualizations to resolve problems, make effective decisions, and manage resources.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $76,000 - $86,000 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities may be available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
