JOB SUMMARY

 

The Demand Planner position is responsible for all forecasting activities associated with customers and products. This position will develop and maintain forecast models for multiple product lines across multiple plants, incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from sales, marketing, finance, and other sources. This role leads the dialogue each month with key counterparts in Sales and Marketing to gain insights and works closely with the Operations Planning team to lead the monthly S&OP process.  The primary deliverable of this role is to create a consensus monthly demand forecast that supports both business and customer service level objectives.

  1. Develop demand forecasts based on the S&OP process to meet revenue and customer requirements for a rolling 24-month forecast into the future
  2. Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast accuracy
  3. Plan/lead cross-functional research activities to reconcile significant variances and refine the forecast model to reflect updated sales and marketing assumptions
  4. Achieve consensus for demand forecasts by facilitating a collaborative planning process with Sales, Marketing and Finance personnel
  5. Use and maintain the Demand Planning software (SAP/APO) as the primary forecasting system tool
  6. Provide input to the Supply Planning team to develop inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs
  7. Work closely with the Supply Planning team to identify and resolve changes in demand forecast
  8. Lead monthly planning meetings for the S&OP process with Sales, Marketing and Manufacturing
  9. Create and maintain documentation and standard work for demand planning processes and systems
  10. Participate in continuous improvement of S&OP processes and Supply Chain performance
  11. Participate in opportunities to optimize inventory investment and control company costs
  12. Participate in opportunities for SKU rationalization
  13. Complete other assignments and special projects as required and assigned
