Distribution Supervisor at TSI

This position has the overall responsibility for Shipping, Receiving, and Stockroom personnel and performance.  This position is responsible for coaching, teaching, training, facilitating and removing barriers to enable work teams to perform at optimal levels. Responsible for planning and directing the activities in shipping, receiving, and the stockroom.  And providing vision, coaching and development opportunities for team personnel.  Applies world class techniques in the pursuit of continuous improvement for process, quality, customer service, and environment, while insuring the assigned areas meet all TSI quality requirements, at the lowest cost and in a timely manner.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with TSI, you will be responsible for:

• Proactively identify and implement continuous quality and cost improvements as it relates to distribution.
• Work with team Leads to prepare work schedules, assign work and oversees the work product.
• Manage departments to achieve metric performance.
• Develop and manage a cross functional Inventory Cycle Count Accuracy team.
• Ensure that there is cross training going on in the department.
• Coach and develop members of the department.
• Set and communicate expectations for employees; monitor performance and give recognition when appropriate. Take corrective action when necessary. Recognize employees for performance which meets or exceeds objectives.
• Utilize quality management techniques for problem solving, corrective action and process decisions.
• Research, justify, procure and implement new technology to maximize department effectiveness and profitability.
• Work in conjunction with the Manager to establish annual goals and objectives for the department to achieve (annually) in alignment with company strategic goals.
• Responsible for assisting in the development of policies with respect to production management.
• Work cooperatively with other departments in addition to influencing decisions and outcomes that result in solid business practices for the company.
• Establish and maintain department budgets including capital improvements.
• Work as a team with Production supervision to improve overall operational performance.
• Follow all safety guidelines and report unsafe conditions to Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities 

The Supervisor is responsible for managing personnel in Distribution.

• Recruit, hire, and retain high performing team.
• Define employee objectives, conduct performance reviews, and recommend salary adjustments.
• Meet all assigned performance objectives. 
• Coach and mentor direct reports.
• Work within TSI to define and execute required training programs to address product, application, process, and technology training needs.
• Mentor new employees with their transition into the Company.
• Work with peers in management to drive the execution of continuous improvement projects.

What Do You Need?

Required

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Minimum five years of experience in manufacturing environment specifically in shipping/receiving and stock room setting
• Experience with SAP or another ERP system

Desired

• CPIM Certification
• Logistics and Export compliance knowledge
• 5S experience

Knowledge

• Lean manufacturing practices
• Employee relations and supervision
• Policy and process development and continuous improvement in a manufacturing setting
• ERP/MRP and scheduling systems
• Manufacturing concepts, practices and procedures
• Effective leadership concepts
