Who Are We?
Do you want to help to make the world a better place? Join our team! At MSP, our vision is to enrich lives by improving health and productivity. We are proud to provide leading edge solutions enabling rapid innovation in processes and methods in the semiconductor and pharmaceutical industries. MSP employees are part of something special with a purpose.
MSP, A division of TSI, is a fast-moving and agile organization experiencing tremendous growth. MSP serves both the Semiconductor and Pharmaceutical markets. We provide technology differentiated vaporization and filtration products to CVD/ALD process tool manufacturers in addition to contamination standards and systems to defect inspection equipment manufacturers. MSP is also the industry leader in pharmaceutical inhalation test products and in providing the core measurement for DPI/MDI characterization applications. We are looking for a person who wants to join a dynamic and motivated team serving the pharmaceutical and semiconductor metrology markets.
Technician III Engineer at MSP
The Technician III Engineer is a hands-on technician who works independently on complex product development and continuation engineering assignments for MSP, a division of TSI, across its vapor delivery and semiconductor metrology, and pharmaceutical inhaler testing product lines. Partnering closely with design engineers, this role builds, wires, tests, and troubleshoots prototype and production electro-mechanical systems, from precision liquid flow and vaporizer assemblies to automated wafer-handling deposition tools. The ideal candidate has experience across several product developments, a strong working knowledge of one or more of our core technologies, a quick learning curve on new designs, and the initiative to drive work to completion with minimal direction.
What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with MSP, you will be responsible for:
- Partner with design engineers to develop new products and continuation engineering, contributing ideas on concepts, test methods, and manufacturability.
- Build and modify engineering prototypes, sub-assemblies, test fixtures, and tooling from drawings, schematics, and BOMs.
- Wire and assemble electro-mechanical systems from schematics and wiring diagrams, including control panels, cable harnesses, sensors, motors, actuators, and PCAs, per applicable standards (e.g., NFPA 79); perform precision soldering.
- Assemble, leak test, and debug gas and liquid delivery hardware such as tubing, fittings, valves, heaters, and flow controllers.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and control systems to root cause using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment.
- Support controls and automation work, including PLC/HMI changes (e.g., Allen-Bradley/Rockwell), motion control, software and firmware uploads, parameter configuration, I/O checkout, and debugging.
- Assist in planning and execute verification, validation, and reliability tests; record and analyze data and recommend changes to the product or test method.
- Create and maintain engineering documentation, including drawing redlines, ECOs, BOMs, material specifications, assembly, test and inspection procedures, and test reports.
- Provide work estimates, track and communicate project status, and help develop schedules and specifications.
- Travel to customer or field sites (typically < 10%) to support installation, FAT/SAT, field testing, and troubleshooting, representing MSP professionally and following customer site safety, cleanroom, security, and confidentiality requirements.
- Work with vendors on engineering and production components and with manufacturing, quality, and service teams; mentor newer technicians and interns.
- Follow safety, ESD, and cleanroom practices and support ISO 9001 quality-system and continuous-improvement activities.
- Complete other assignments and special projects as requested.
What Do You Need?
Required
- Two-year technical certificate or degree in Electronics, Electro-Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field, or equivalent military or industry experience
- 5+ years as an engineering, electro-mechanical, test, or production technician, including support of complex product development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong troubleshooting and repair skills using electronic test equipment
- Able to read and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings
- Experience with PLCs (e.g., Beckhoff, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell), motion control, or NFPA 79 / UL 508A panel wiring is a plus
- Experience with semiconductor capital equipment, vacuum or gas/liquid delivery systems, or cleanroom work is a plus
Desired
- AAS in Electronics Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or Automation; IPC soldering or wire-harness certification (e.g., J-STD-001, IPC/WHMA-A-620) a plus
