JOB SUMMARY

The EMC Engineer Technician tests TSI products for EMC compliance to regulatory standards.   The EMC Engineer Technician is required to configure and operate various TSI products and conduct EMC testing per country standards.  This position also requires the ability to generate EMC test reports and create/update internal procedures and standards.  This level of technician requires experience with EMC testing, EMC test equipment and troubleshooting embedded systems.  The EMC Test Technician must consistently demonstrate a quick learning curve for new complex designs and technologies.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure EMC test equipment is well maintained, in calibration and operating properly.
  • Create, evaluate and perform standard EMC testing techniques, EMC test plans and product test procedures.
  • Compare and verify data created in TSI’s EMC lab is reflective of results from outside accredited labs.
  • Record test results, numerical and graphical data, and generate test reports and documentation required for product EMC regulatory compliance.
  • Troubleshoot non-compliance issues and recommend possible solutions.
  • Interact effectively with cross functional groups and NPD & Continuation Engineers.
  • Mentor product technicians and interns on basic EMC test equipment operation.
  • Work with TSI’s Regulatory team to identify changing regulations and test standards.
  • Identify equipment or other improvements needed as regulations and TSI’s needs change.
  • Identify and work with vendors on EMC lab equipment needs.
  • Travel to external labs or field test sites to support/observe testing.
  • Consistently demonstrate ability to adapt quickly to new designs and concepts.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED

  • 2 year Electronic Technology certificate
  • 5+  years as an Engineering, Production, or Test Technician
  • Supporting testing and development of complex products
  • Troubleshooting and repair skills using electronic test equipment

 

DESIRED

  • 2 year Electronic Technology AAS degree

 

 

KNOWLEDGE

  • Routinely reads technical and non-technical information.
  • High level of concentration required to prioritize and complete multiple tasks and projects.
