JOB SUMMARY

The Field Service Technician will provide onsite and remote support for a variety of instruments in TSI’s Particle measurement portfolio.  Support types include routine maintenance as well as break/fix support.  Most break/fix activities start with telephone troubleshooting, but could lead to on site or return to factory repair. This position will have heavy customer contact and could include application support for the customer’s use of the instrument.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Provide field service and support for Particle Measurement products.
  2. Work directly with our customers during the installation of the Particle Measurement products.  You will answer technical questions from customers regarding products and technologies.
  3. Support remote and on-site troubleshooting of customer hardware and software issues.
  4. Order and stock support parts as needed for service activities.
  5. Conduct limited training to customers for the operation and maintenance of equipment.
  6. Assist in in-house technical workshops, set up systems for demos, etc.
  7. Provide input for new product/technology development.
  8. Complete thorough trip reports and accurately submit reimbursements for labor and expenses.
  9. Must work well with others.
  10. Follow all safety guidelines and report unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  11. Understand how to reset data ports and communication protocols.
  12. Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education

Minimum of an Associate degree electronics related area with significant field experience will be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.

 

Experience

Minimum of two years of experience in a business setting including responsibilities in product support, product training and presenting at seminars is required.

 

KNOWLEDGE

  • Field troubleshooting and repair practices
  • Communication and presentation methods
  • Standard electronic troubleshooting equipment (DVMs, oscilloscopes, etc)
  • Ability to plan and work successfully and independently on simultaneous projects
  • Ability to present technical information in a systematic and convincing manner
