Manual Machinist

JOB SUMMARY

1st Shift: Monday through Friday: 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM 

The Machinist requires detailed instructions on all work.  Works under the close supervision of the Production Supervisor (Machine Shop).  The Machinist will set up and operates a variety of manual machines, such as Hardinge Tool Room Lathe, Chucker Lathe, Bridgeport Mill, and cut-off saws.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Set-up, adjusts, and operates a variety of machines, such as; Hardinge Tool Room Lathe, Chucker Lathe, Bridgeport Mill.
  2. Follow work practices which are geared toward continuous quality improvement, Lean, and best practices.
  3. Assist with layout, set up, operating and making tool adjustments for various types of manual, numerically controlled and computerized machine shop equipment.
  4. Works from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform machining tasks, that includes the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions.
  5. Checks and inspects machining operations against specified tolerances.
  6. May identify and repair minor machine malfunctions.
  7. Work as an effective team member in the department.
  8. Participate in cross training going on in the department.
  9. Work in conjunction with Production Supervisor (Machine Shop) to establish annual individual goals and objectives in alignment with department goals.
  10. Assist in 5S ensuring a clean and safe work area and shop at all times.
  11. Follow all safety guidelines and report unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent is preferred
  • Minimum of one-year experience in working on manual lathes an mills within amanufacturing environment specifically in a high technology environment.
  • Graduate of a Voc-tech machinist program and 1+ years of experience is preferred
  • No formal education or training will require 5+ years of directly related machining experience. 
  • Experience working in a machine shop in a high technology environment
