Mechanical Engineer II at TSI

The Mechanical Engineer II will be responsible for engineering support of existing products, including improvements for performance as well as redesign for manufacturability, cost benefit and obsolescence. You should have good understanding of the product development process and may be involved in the development and release of new products. 

 

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with TSI, you will be responsible for:

  • Evaluating potential solutions to engineering problems for feasibility, manufacturability, and cost effectiveness
  • Reviewing solutions with senior engineers and project managers, when necessary
  • Integrating engineering solutions into existing product lines
  • Providing engineering support to manufacturing personnel to solve production problems and improve processes 
  • With some guidance, designing and develoing the mechanical portions of electronic instruments
  • Supporting design changes, by reviewing proposed changes, engineering drawings, documentation, and change control 
  • Managing own work flow and developing a deeper understanding of product lines 
  • Designing tests and validations of sub systems 
  • Applying problem solving skills to analysis of new and unfamiliar engineering problems
  • Providing strong documentation and specifications on project work 
  • Working cooperatively with other departments
     

What Do You Need?
Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering 
  • If a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is held, substitutions may be made for the Bachelor’s degree
  • 3-5 years of mechanical engineering experience
  • Knowledge of:
    • Mechanical engineering fundamentals
    • Engineering tools and software (3D CAD Modeling, Word, Excel)
    • Experimental methods
    • Programming languages

Desired

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Geometric Design & Tolerancing
  • CAD design exposure and experience (Creo is used at TSI) 
  • Design of experiments
  • Experience using Kanban boards for project management (JIRA used at TSI)
