Product Manager - Hardware Solutions

We are seeking a Product Manager to research innovative sensing technologies and instruments to expand our product portfolio. The Product Manager will collaborate with other Product Managers to understand market needs and evaluate the business potential of new offerings.  An ideal candidate for this role will have strong system-level thinking to help our team understand the “art of the possible” and help develop an instrument roadmap that extends our market leadership into broader solutions and business opportunities.

 

The Hardware Solutions Product Manager will guide a talented R&D team to rapidly develop prototypes and gather customer feedback.  We are looking for someone with a proven ability to execute both strategically and tactically. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Analyze market drivers, technology developments, intellectual property landscape, regulatory drivers, and competitor posturing of TSI’s product line.  Recommend new product development strategy and recommend project priorities based on findings.

  • Develop preliminary business cases for identified opportunities including revenue potential, market risks and uncertainties.

  • Lead cross-functional innovation teams to analyze markets and develop new product and service concepts.  Encourage free thinking and collaboration amongst team, but make sure that they remain focused on the business objective you have provided.

  • Engage with customers to demonstrate prototype products.  Evaluate customer feedback to iteratively drive enhancements.

  • Conduct and coordinate market research, competitive assessments, and Voice of Customer research. 

  • Work closely with Business Development team to define strategic product/technology gaps.  Identify potential partners and acquisitions to fill identified gaps. 

  • Manage a general collaboration portal that collects and analyzes key data product opportunities.  Assign and manage the research activities of business analysts reporting to you.

  • Work with Business Unit Mangers, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales functions to effectively transition candidate products from concept to full commercialization.

  • Travel extensively to support activities such as VOC efforts, training, new product launches, and visiting customers and potential business partners (25+).

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Science, Business, or Marketing
  • 7+ years progressive product / marketing responsibilities

Preferred

  • International Business experience

Desired

  • B2B experience
  • Experience in instrumentation and sensors

  • Operational experience (manufacturing, technical support, engineering) 

 

Knowledge of:

  • Strategic Market Plans, including clearly defined Product Roadmap for the product line.

  • Voice of Customer methodology, Strategic Marketing framework, Pricing tools and techniques.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
