Regulatory Compliance Engineer II at TSI
The Regulatory Engineering participates with the Engineering teams to ensure product compliance throughout the product’s lifetime. They are the “regulatory subject matter expert” providing guidance and decisions where needed. They also coordinate with outside resources for testing and extended compliance tasks. Communication skills and relationship building are important in this role, as it interfaces with Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Marketing, Quality, and outside resources such as test house and Regulatory Agencies.
What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with TSI, you will be responsible for:
- Participating with new product development teams and outside experts as required, regarding domestic and international product compliance regulations.
- Facilitating implementation of current product standards requirements and assist Marketing and Engineering teams on product design activities to ensure compliance
- Ensuring products have the correct labeling and markings, and user manuals and documentation have the appropriate notifications, warnings, and disclosures based on the functional specifications and intended use.
- Facilitating/coordinating regulatory aspects of the projects, acting as key project interface to test labs, regulatory bodies, and countries.
- Playing an active role in the development team to ensure the compliance effort remains on schedule and within budget.
- Obtaining and maintaining records of testing, safety accreditation, CB Scheme, country licenses, etc.
- Managing the ongoing regulatory compliance of TSI products through-out their life cycle by involvement with sustaining engineering projects.
- Facilitating/participating in improving and evolving Regulatory involvement within company processes; i.e., NPD, Operations, Sales, Marketing, International Offices, Service, etc.
- Utilizing knowledge or experience with some of the following areas:
- Safety: LVD, CB Scheme, NRTL
- Laser Safety
- EMC: EU, FCC, RCM
- Wireless: FCC, IC, RED
- Hazardous locations
- Chemical compliance: RoHS/REACH, Prop. 65, Conflict minerals, Montreal Protocol
What Do You Need?
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering
- A minimum of 3 years of product development experience in a regulated industry.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in interpretation and application of regulatory agency product standards, country, and or industry regulations.
- Excellent computer skills. Proficiency required in using all core Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including active listening.
- Excellent presentation skills including leading groups and clearly explaining ideas visually on a whiteboard/flipchart.
Desired
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
- Experience in application of associated standards including; UL, CSA, FCC, EN, Wireless, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to work directly with engineering staff and test/certification agencies
- Strong problem solving skills
- Proficiency in Visio, and SharePoint
