Safety Test Technician

Job Summary

The Safety Test Technician will  conduct testing to published standards for Laboratory Equipment. Examples of such standards may include IEC/UL/EN safety standard. Collect and evaluate test data in accordance to established processes and requirements. Execute equipment maintenance, inventory, calibration schedules, return to service and repairs. Assemble standard and custom testing setups. Basic understanding of electrical schematics. Familiar with operation of lab equipment including power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, etc..... At all times, maintain a high level of safe work practices to insure the safety of yourself and others.Under minimal supervision, conduct testing to published standards for Laboratory Equipment. Examples of such standards may include IEC/UL/EN 61010-1. Collect and evaluate test data in accordance to established processes and requirements. Execute equipment maintenance, inventory, calibration schedules, return to service and repairs. Assemble standard and custom testing setups. Basic understanding of electrical schematics. Familiar with operation of lab equipment including power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, etc..... At all times, maintain a high level of safe work practices to insure the safety of yourself and others.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  1. Perform Safety and EMC Compliance testing by reviewing and executing standard procedures and system test plans.
  2. Record test results, numerical and graphical data, and make recommendations for changes to product or test methods.
  3. Maintain and organize lab area.
  4. Generate documentation, including compliance test reports, drawings, ECOs, materials specifications, manufacturing procedures, BOM's, and inspection procedures.
  5. Interact with vendors on engineering, production components, and compliance equipment.
  6. Demonstrate ability to adapt quickly to new designs and concepts.
  7. Travel to customer or field test sites to support field testing.
  8. Work cooperatively with all departments.
  9. Completes other assignments and special projects as requested.

 

 

Job Qualifications:

  • A Two-year Electronic Technology certificate is required.
  • An Associate degree in Electronic Technology is desired.
  • Three to seven years of Engineering, Production, or Test Technician experience 
  • Supporting testing of complex products.
  • Routinely reads technical and non-technical information.
  • High level of concentration required to prioritize and complete multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to Interpret and apply Industry safety standards such as IEC/UL/EN 61010-1 is preferred.
