Sr. Business Director at TSI
The Senior Business Director leads a global product management and service marketing team, providing business management leadership across value streams in a high-growth environment. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Sales & Marketing, this role is responsible for the development and delivery of world class strategies for the company’s products and services, and ultimately, for the solution and market success and results.

 

The Senior Business Director ensures that product management efforts support the company’s overall strategy. A highly collaborative approach with all functions is key to success, in exceeding our customers’ expectations. We are looking for a passionate and talented leader to take our product management to the next level.

 

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with TSI, you will:

  • Provide leadership to the product management and service marketing team in all aspects of portfolio product life cycle management, including identifying areas for growth, maximizing existing products’ profitability, and obsoleting products, as appropriate.

  • Lead product development efforts, ensuring appropriate project tradeoffs are made to maximize program profitability.

  • Guide product management team in the development, maintenance, and execution of 3-5-year strategic plans. Present, defend, and adapt the strategic vision to the overall corporate strategy. The strategic plan includes analysis of market drivers, identification of growth areas, and overall portfolio management.

  • Set direction for development and execution of annual tactical plans, including bookings, revenue, and expense targets; P&L oversight and accountability for reaching operating income targets of assigned value streams.

  • Oversee development of annual go-to-market plans, including lead generation activities, sales support and channel development, and product launches.

  • Lead efforts to identify, present, and gain approval of product portfolio development plans and manage allocation of resources within individual product developments, resulting in optimum financial performance. This includes prioritization of product development resources and reporting deviations from plan to the senior management team.

  • Oversee analysis of the value streams’ product portfolio financial performance, including making ROI-based decisions on continuation engineering activities and margin improvement opportunities. Lead efforts to look for new sales and service opportunities in existing or adjacent markets for released products.

  • Work closely with the Business Development team to define strategic product/technology gaps. Identify potential partners and acquisitions to fill identified gaps.

  • Work closely with Sales to identify, acquire, and support appropriate sales channels to targeted customer segments. Oversee identification, development, and delivery of sales tools and collateral. 

  • Guide activity coordination of product managers and market analysts for market research, competitive assessments, and Voice of Customer research. Ensure that Marketing deliverables, including Business Cases and Financial Models, are complete and meet established timelines. 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of global product management/service marketing leaders and business directors, by establishing goals and objectives, measuring and monitoring overall team performance; provide coaching, guidance, and timely feedback, regarding performance and behaviors. Indirect reports include product managers, application engineers, product specialists, and marketing specialists.

  • Conduct performance mid-year and annual reviews, provide feedback, and make recommendations, regarding compensation, promotion, training, performance improvement plans, discipline, and termination of individuals, within the product and service team.

 

What Do You Need?
Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Economics, or related field

  • 10+ years experience in product, marketing, brand, service, or category management

  • Demonstrated success developing and implementing strategic business plans, including product or market roadmaps with measurable results

  • Proven ability to manage broad product lines across multiple market segments

  • International business and product marketing experience; demonstrated understanding of the global marketplace

  • Experience building, developing, and retaining high-performance teams

  • Highly collaborative team player, with demonstrated cross-functional leadership and communication skills

  • Comfortable with ambiguity; thrives in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated integrative thinking ability

  • Curious in nature with a customer-first mindset

Desired

  • MBA or advanced technical degree

  • 15+ years experience in product, marketing, brand, service, or category management

  • Operational experience (manufacturing, technical support, engineering)

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $220,000 - $235,000 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities may be available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
